Game 5: Woodbridge

In the biggest game of the season the Jaguars put on a show. In a game matching the #1 ranked Jaguars and the #3 ranked Warriors the Jags offense dominated from the get go. After an opening drive and score by the Warriors the Jags held them scoreless for the remainder of the half. During the 1st half the offense averaged over 10 yds per play and scored 35 unanswered points. The Jags went into halftime with a convincing 35-7 lead. At the start of the 2nd half the Jags continued their offensive dominance for 3 plays before a fumbled snap. The Warriors would capitalize and score, cutting the lead to 35-14. After a successful onside kick the Warriors drove the field and scored again cutting the lead to 35-21. The Jags responded with a quick drive and touchdown the Jags were up again by 21. In the fourth quarter the Warriors scored once again, but the Jags were too much for them and quickly scored again to put the game out of reach and the final score was 47-28.

The offense was lead by David Perkins with 204 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns, Sonny Roa added 113 yards as well. The Jaguars ended the preseason with a perfect 5-0 record, first time in school history.

JV vs. Woodbridge (L 30–36)

Being on the road proved to be a difficult task for the visiting Jaguars, who dropped a hard fought contest 30-36. Segerstrom was forced to play all four quarters battling adversity along the way. In a game plagued by penalties and miscues, Woodbridge benefited from an early turnover by the Jaguars, recovering the ball on its own 10-yard line. The Warriors were able to capitalize three plays later taking an early 7-0 lead. Segerstrom responded with an 80-yard touchdown drive to even the score. In its next possession, the Jaguars took a six-point lead after a missed extra point, 13-7. Woodbridge got back on the board rushing for a 60 yard score to take the lead. After the Tyler Tafoya pass in the back of the end zone to Chris Nieto was ruled out of bounds, Julian Mendoza kicked a 33-yard field goal to give the Jaguars a 16-14 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half big plays by both teams forced each offensive unit to lead a would-be-scoring drive. The Jaguars defensive unit created a turnover as Marcos Barajas intercepted a screen pass, taking it in for the score. With the Jaguars up nine, the Warriors responded with two consecutive touchdowns to give them the lead with just under four minutes left in the game. Segerstrom proceeded to drive the ball 80-yards, capped off by an Ivan Brooks touchdown with just over 1:30 left in the game. Yet, Woodbridge was able to respond on a third and long situation with 40 seconds left from the Jaguars 35-yard line by completing a 65-yard touchdown pass to put the Warriors up for good. The Jaguars would not go away quietly, taking the ball across mid-field to the Woodbridge 35-yard line as time expired.

Freshmen: Woodbridge
Week 4: Woodbridge The Jaguar Freshmen football team closed out its preseason by hosting the Woodbridge Warriors. The Warriors would score first when they kick a 25 yards field goal. The Jaguars then responded with a drive behind the much improved blocking and hard running from running back Zamani Nunez and Abel Diaz. George Ortega would score on a 3 yard run giving the Jags a 6-3 lead. A few drive later, the Warriors would cause a turn over which would lead to another touchdown for the Warriors, giving them a 10-6 lead. The Jaguars would respond with another score to lead 13-10 going into the half. Coming out in the second half, the defense would tighten up and prevent the Warriors from moving the ball constantly and keeping them out of the end zone . The defense also added to the scoring with interception return for a touchdown by Chris Ferman after linebacker Martin Rodriguez hit the WarriorÕs quarterback as he threw, making the score 20-10. The Jaguar offense would put together one more drive and one more score to make it 26-20. With this win, the Freshmen Jaguar Football team ends it preseason with a 4-1 record and looking to their first league game against the Loara Saxon.
